I had a very tasty side dish at a restaurant recently. As the server walked towards our table, the aroma of toasted sesame oil was distinctive and the taste was full of flavor. This side dish was so good I knew we had to try replicating it for home meals. The side dish is a Sauteed Asian Broccoli Slaw and the credit and kudos for replicating this dish goes to my wife. The recipe is below.
Sauteed Asian Broccoli Slaw
Ingredients
- 1 package of broccoli slaw.
- soy sauce
- toasted sesame oil
- light olive oil
- dash of garlic powder
- 2t lemon juice
- 1T brown sugar
- pre-cooked cubed chicken (optional)
prep time 3 minutes. Cook time 10- 15 minutes
Directions
- Heat the skillet (we use cast iron for nearly everything)
- Add some oil to the pan (either toasted sesame or the olive oil)
- Add the slaw, season with garlic powder, soy sause lemon juice, and saute 5 -10 minutes
- Move the slaw to the side of the pan, turn down the heat to a medium low
- On the other side of the pan add a little more toasted sesame oil, lemon juice, brown sugar
- Once the brown sugar is dissolved, mix everything together
- Add the pre-cooked chicken cubes (optional)
